    1. Print → "Save as PDF"

Recommended route. Images, tables and formatting are carried over to the PDF by your browser's print engine. In the window that opens, choose "Save as PDF" as the Destination / Printer.

    2. Download PDF directly (beta)

Creates a PDF without opening the print window, containing text only (headings, paragraphs, lists, tables). Images are not included in this mode.

    Your PDF is ready

Convert Word to PDF online without uploading your document

Sending a Word file around is risky: fonts change, pages reflow and anybody can edit it. A PDF looks the same on every device, which is why employers, schools, banks and government offices ask for PDFs. This free Word to PDF converter turns a .docx file into a PDF in your browser. Your document is not uploaded to any server, so CVs, contracts, invoices and letters stay private.

You get a live preview on an A4 page, simple options for margins and font size, and two ways to produce the PDF. Because the conversion happens locally, it starts instantly, has no queue and does not depend on a connection once the page has loaded. The tool is labelled beta because its direct text-only route is still being refined; the print route is dependable for everyday documents.

How to convert Word to PDF

    1. Drop your .docx file onto the box above or click Choose Word file. The document is read and shown as a preview.
    2. Check the preview and the conversion notes below it. Adjust the page margin and font size if you want a different look.
    3. For the best result press Print and save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF as the destination in the print window and confirm.
    4. If you prefer a quick text-only file, press Create PDF directly and download the result with Download PDF.
    5. Open the PDF to check it before sending it to anyone.

    Two routes, explained

Print and save as PDF is the recommended route. The converter prepares your document as clean HTML on an A4 page and hands it to the print engine of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The engine is very good at drawing images, tables, lists and styled text, so the PDF usually includes everything you see in the preview. On Windows and Android choose Save as PDF as the printer; on a Mac use the PDF menu in the print dialog; on iPhone use the share sheet after the print preview.

Create PDF directly (beta) writes a PDF from scratch without opening any window. It lays out headings, paragraphs, numbered and bulleted lists and tables on A4 pages, keeps bold text, embeds a font so special characters work, and adds page numbers. Images are not included in this mode, and the layout is simpler. It is useful for lightweight text copies and for browsers that block the print dialog.

What is preserved and what is not

The converter reads the structure of your document rather than its exact visual layout. Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, bullet and numbered lists, links, tables and inline images come through well. Complex features are simplified: text boxes, multi-column sections, headers and footers, comments, tracked changes, equations and floating shapes may be reordered or left out. Fonts are replaced with a clean system font, so the line breaks may differ slightly from what you see in Word.

If you need a pixel-perfect PDF, the most reliable way is still Word's own File, Save As, PDF command or the Export option. Use this online converter when you do not have Word available, when you are on a shared or borrowed computer, or when you want to avoid uploading a sensitive file to a cloud service.

    Tips for better PDFs

    • Use real heading styles. Documents that use Heading 1, Heading 2 and list styles convert much more cleanly than those formatted by hand with spaces and tabs.
    • Check images beforehand. Very large photos slow the conversion. Compress them in Word, or shrink them first with the compress image tool.
    • Keep tables simple. Merged cells and nested tables are flattened. Plain grids work best.
    • Pick a margin. Normal 20 mm suits most letters; choose narrow if you want to fit more on a page.
    • Preview before printing. The preview shows how the document will be laid out on A4 paper.

    Privacy and security

Your document is processed in a sandboxed frame in your browser. Scripts, forms and external resources inside a document are stripped before the preview is rendered, and the preview cannot load anything from the internet. No analytics script sees the content of your file. You can check this yourself by watching the network tab of your browser's developer tools while you convert.

When you are finished, simply close the tab. The text, images and the PDF you created disappear from memory; the only copy that remains is the file you downloaded.

    Frequently asked questions

Is my Word document uploaded to a server?

No. The .docx file is opened and converted entirely inside your browser, using libraries that are stored on this website and run locally. Nothing is uploaded, which makes the tool suitable for contracts, CVs and other private documents. After the page has loaded it even works without an internet connection.

Which route should I choose: print or direct PDF?

Use "Print and save as PDF" for most documents. It keeps images, tables and formatting because your browser's own print engine draws the pages. The direct route is a beta that writes a text-only PDF with headings, paragraphs, lists and tables, but it leaves out pictures and uses simpler layout. It is handy when you just need a lightweight text copy.

Will the PDF look exactly like my Word document?

It will be close for ordinary letters, reports and CVs, but not pixel-identical. The converter reads the structure of the document, such as headings, bold text, lists, tables and pictures, and applies a clean A4 layout. Headers, footers, text boxes, columns, exact fonts and complex floating objects are not reproduced. For documents where exact layout matters, export the PDF from Word itself.

Why is my .doc file rejected?

The tool only reads the modern .docx format introduced with Word 2007. Old .doc files and password-protected documents have a different internal structure. Open the file in Word, choose Save As and pick Word Document (.docx). For protected files remove the password first, then convert.

Why are my images missing in the PDF?

Pictures appear in the preview and in the print route. They are skipped only in the direct beta route, which creates text-only PDFs. If your document contains photos, charts or logos, choose "Print and save as PDF" and select "Save as PDF" as the destination in the print dialog.

Does it support special characters and other languages?

Yes. The direct route embeds a font with broad Latin, Greek and Cyrillic coverage, so accented letters and characters such as ñ, ü, ç or ß are written correctly. The print route uses fonts installed on your device. Languages written right to left, and Asian scripts, may display differently depending on the fonts available.

Is there a limit on the file size?

There is no fixed limit, but very large documents can slow the browser. A warning appears above 50 MB. Documents full of high resolution photos are the usual cause; compress the images in Word with Compress Pictures, or process the document in sections.

Is it free, and are there watermarks?

It is free, with no watermark, no page limit and no account. The page shows a few ads away from the buttons, and the PDF you download contains only your own content.
