Use the ⤓ button on a row to save one file, or the buttons below to save them all. If your browser asks whether to allow multiple downloads, say yes.

How to convert WebP to JPG

    1. Drag your .webp files into the box above, or click it to browse. You can select as many as you like; each one appears in the list with a thumbnail and its size.
    2. Adjust the options if you need to. The quality slider controls how much the JPG is compressed, and the background color decides what replaces any transparent areas. The defaults, 90 percent quality and a white background, suit most pictures.
    3. Press "Convert to JPG". A progress bar shows which file is being processed. Each row then displays the old and new file size and the pixel dimensions.
    4. Save the results. Use the small download arrow on a row for a single file, "Download all as zip" for a tidy archive, or "Download one by one" if you prefer separate files. Your browser may ask permission to download several files; allow it.
    5. If a file cannot be converted, the page says which one and why it may have failed, so you can download it again from the source and retry. The other files are not affected.

What is WebP and why do you end up with it?

WebP is an image format created by Google and released in 2010. It was designed to make pictures on the web smaller without an obvious drop in quality, and it can do things that older formats cannot do in one file: lossy compression like JPG, lossless compression like PNG, transparency and even simple animation. Because smaller images make pages load faster, a huge number of websites, content delivery networks and social platforms now serve WebP by default, even when the original upload was a JPG or PNG.

The side effect is that when you right-click and save a picture, or download an image from an online store, you often receive a .webp file. Modern browsers open WebP without trouble, but plenty of other software does not. Older versions of photo editors, some print kiosks, office programs, email clients, job application portals and marketplace upload forms still insist on JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG solves the problem in a few seconds, and JPG remains the most universally accepted photo format in the world.

JPG or WebP, which should you keep?

If the picture will stay on a website you control, WebP is often the better choice because it is typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than a JPG of similar visual quality. If the picture needs to be shared, printed, attached to a form or opened by many different people and programs, JPG is the safer choice. The table below summarizes the differences that matter in practice.

Why use Bilişim Ajans' WebP to JPG converter?

Most online converters ask you to upload each picture to a server, wait in a queue and download the result from a link. This one works differently. The conversion happens inside your browser using the same image engine that displays the pictures, so nothing is transmitted anywhere. That makes it fast, it works without a connection after the page has loaded, and it is safe for private images such as scanned documents, ID photos and screenshots with personal information.

    Getting the best results

    • Pick the right quality. For photos you will only look at on screen, 85 to 90 percent keeps the picture clean and the file small. If you plan to edit the JPG again, use 95 percent or higher, because every further save in a lossy format adds a little damage.
    • Choose the background on purpose. Logos and cut-out product shots often have transparent backgrounds. White suits most web shops and documents, while a dark color can be better if the image has light edges that would disappear on white.
    • Check animated files. Only the first frame of an animated WebP is converted, because JPG cannot hold motion.
    • Keep originals if quality matters. Converting between two lossy formats always re-compresses the picture. Keep the WebP if you may need the best possible copy later, and treat the JPG as the shareable version.
    • Convert in batches. A set of product photos can be converted together and downloaded as a single zip, which saves a lot of clicking compared with saving files one at a time.

When a JPG is the better choice

WebP is excellent for websites, but the moment a picture leaves the browser it meets software written long before the format existed. Print shops, document management systems, older versions of Word and PowerPoint, many email signatures and almost every government or university upload form expect JPG or PNG. Social networks and marketplaces usually re-encode what you give them, yet they may still refuse the upload if the extension is unfamiliar. Converting once, at a quality you control, gives you a file that behaves the same everywhere and that you can attach, print or archive without worrying about who will open it next.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a WebP image to JPG?

Drop the .webp file onto the box or click to choose it, pick a quality if you want, and press the convert button. The JPG is created in your browser and you can download it straight away. You can add many files at once and save them all as a zip.

Is the converter really free and private?

Yes. There is no account and no limit on the number of files. The conversion runs inside your browser, so your images are never uploaded to a server.

What happens to transparent areas in a WebP?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with a solid color. The default is white, and you can pick any color before converting. To keep transparency, convert to PNG with the Convert Image tool instead.

Which JPG quality should I choose?

85 to 90 percent is a good default for photos. Use 95 percent or more for images you will edit again, and 60 to 75 percent when file size matters more than perfect detail.

Why does the JPG look different from my WebP?

Both formats are lossy, so converting re-compresses the picture and can add faint blockiness in flat colors and sharp text. A higher quality setting reduces this. A lossless WebP will also be smaller than the JPG made from it.

Can I convert animated WebP files?

JPG is a still image format, so only the first frame of an animated WebP is converted. To keep the animation, use a GIF or video format instead.

Why does my browser save images as WebP in the first place?

Many websites serve WebP because it makes pages load faster. When you save such a picture you get a .webp file, which some older programs, printers and upload forms do not accept. Converting to JPG makes it work everywhere.

Does the converter handle HEIC photos from an iPhone?

No. Browsers cannot open HEIC, so those files are skipped with a message. On an iPhone, set Camera Formats to Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, but files over 50 MB can be slow or run out of memory because the work happens on your device. A warning appears for such files; convert very large batches in smaller groups.
